Why a Podcast?!?!

Why a Podcast?!?!

I started a podcast. Crazy I know! It happened so fast that I honestly haven’t had a moment to document it all on the blog, but better late than never.

So inquiring minds want to know, why a podcast?

About two months ago my co-host, Deilaila Catalino (Founder of M3Glam), and I attended an event during fashion week. We were doing our typical mixing and mingling because if you are going to go to an event you should definitely make it count. After introducing ourselves to some people, I made a joke and said we are the “non-corporate girls” because usually our titles or rather everything we do can be a mouthful. After I said my little joke, Delaila and I both had a light bulb moment and said we should write that down.

At that moment we had no idea why we were writing it down, but something about it stood out. That night into the next morning it kept replaying in my head. Around 9/10am I texted my non-corporate partner in crime and said “I think we should start a podcast”. Mind you, at this moment, my knowledge and passion for podcasts were at a minimum which is kind of interesting considering I am a tv, film and music junkie you would think I’d be hooked to podcasts. Delaila, on the other hand, is a certified podcast junkie and was so down with the idea before I could even explain my rationale.

It was obvious in that moment we would call the podcast “Non-Corporate Girls” and we went onto outlining why we think this particular project would be our chicken soup aka food for the soul. To make a long story short (you can just catch bits and pieces on our podcast channel now on iTunes and Soundcloud) we spend a lot of time during the week chatting about numerous things especially centered on our jobs in corporate America, the brands we already started and our personal brand. Literally we are like talking diaries because we both just “get it”, when the idea for the podcast came up it made sense to us that this would be our audio diary for us to share with others who just “get it”.

I can honestly say if you would have told me 3 months ago that I would start this journey I would have said probably not, but in the past 2 months this podcast ride has been pretty amazing. Don't get it twisted, there is a lot of work involved, but we are excited about it. We are learning a lot and we are able to tell our truths to help shed light for others; which is pretty incredible. A small piece of advice, chatter, insight really can go a long way.

So this is why Non-Corporate Girls was created. Follow us on social and check us out. I promise we are worth it.
