Words To Do By

I can't really explain the type of mood I am in today, but if I had to kick this post off with a good word, reflective would probably be it. We can also add in positive, determined and READY. What is the cause for this mood? Well we can equate it to a few things starting with yesterday. Yesterday was a challenging wednesday, but I had some interesting conversations. It is always super refreshing to get insight, advice and just praise on the initiatives you are working on from people in your circle who really support you.

Fast forward to today and I came across a few good articles from women of color that I admire discussing some of their challenges, fears and successes as they climb to the top. Even though we know certain things like "don't always focus on your loses", "take time to focus on your wins" and "to get to where you want to be sometimes you have to inconvenience yourself for a greater cause" it is ALWAYS reassuring for me to hear it again. Especially from ladies who legit work hard.

I have gone through a lot of changes on my path to what I deem my success. Regardless of how I define and redefine what that success looks like I am guilty of focusing more on my loses than wins. obviously it is unintentional, but self-praise can really be a hard thing. Today was reaffirmation that despite the road I take to reach my "success" or how long it takes me to get there I have to remember the journey. There are a lot of good wins in that mix and I need to acknowledge that and let it propel me forward. Like I said, a lot of words to do by.
